LASTFX

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about trials, licenses, privacy and compatibility.

Are LUMERIX and GRAINOVA photo-editing plug-ins?

No. Both are OpenFX video plug-ins built specifically for DaVinci Resolve's video editing and color page. They analyze and process video footage frame by frame - they are not general-purpose photo tools, and they are built for video editors, colorists and filmmakers.

Is the free trial really free? Is there a watermark?

Yes. The trial has every feature, lasts 7 days and has no watermark. We do not ask for a payment card, and nothing is charged automatically when it ends.

What happens when the trial ends?

The plug-in stops applying its effect and shows a LASTFX watermark on your picture (your footage itself is never changed or deleted) until you activate a license. Your grade settings are not lost - the node just shows the watermark instead of the effect. The end date is decided by our server, so changing the computer's clock does not extend it.

Is it a subscription?

No. Licenses are a one-time payment. The pricing page states the number of activations, the update policy and the support period before you buy.

How many computers can I use a license on?

A standard license allows 3 active devices. You can deactivate a device at any time from your dashboard (or from the plug-in) and activate another.

Does it need the Internet while I work?

No. Rendering never contacts the server. The plug-in checks its signed license file locally and checks in with the server roughly once a day. If you are offline it keeps working for up to 14 days after the last successful check.

What do you collect and upload?

We never upload footage, reference frames, project files or DaVinci Resolve projects. Activation sends your license key, a salted one-way device identifier, the plug-in name and version. See the Privacy Policy for the full list.

Is LUMERIX AI?

No. It is a deterministic video frame-analysis algorithm (robust statistics in linear light). It is not machine learning and we do not describe it as such.

Will LUMERIX make any two shots match?

It matches measurable statistics: exposure, contrast, white balance, tint, saturation and tonal color balance. It works best when the two shots show similar content. Treat it as a fast starting point that you can fine-tune.

Which DaVinci Resolve versions are supported?

We only list versions we have actually tested; the current list is on the Installation page. The plug-ins use the standard OpenFX interface and 32-bit float images.

Does it work on macOS or Linux?

Not yet. The current release is for Windows 10/11 x64. The code is organised so a macOS version can be added, but we do not offer one today.

Does it use the GPU?

Yes, on NVIDIA GPUs through CUDA when the host renders on the GPU; otherwise it renders on the CPU using all cores. The CUDA path matches the CPU output in our automated tests on one GPU model; it has not yet been verified inside DaVinci Resolve, so treat GPU rendering as unconfirmed until the compatibility list says otherwise.

Can I use the plug-ins with log or HDR footage?

Yes. Set Input Encoding to match your timeline (Linear, Rec.709 Gamma 2.4, sRGB or DaVinci Intermediate). For HDR timelines set Highlight Protection and Highlight Compression to 0, because values above 1.0 are valid there.

The plug-in does nothing after I installed it.

Open the LICENSE section: it shows the status. Without an active trial or license the plug-in passes your footage through. Start a trial in your account, paste the key and press Activate.

I cannot find the plug-in in DaVinci Resolve.

Restart DaVinci Resolve after installing, then open Effects Library > OpenFX and search for LUMERIX or GRAINOVA. If it is missing, run the installer again and check that the OpenFX directory was detected.

How do I get a refund?

See the Refund Policy. Contact support with your order number within the refund period.
